In honor of Seth Harwood’s attempt to climb the charts on Amazon.com this Sunday, March 16th we have gone back into the archives to find this very special episode featuring Seth and the Wheel of Misfortune.
Seth tells us a story about the early years, a lost hard drive and his attempts to recover it from the wasteland known as the customer service. Seth pulls out all the stops and goes straight for the jugular in an attempt to recover his lost hard drive and and his first 300 page novel. Did he succeed? Was it worth it? You decide in this action-packed Wheel of Misfortune episode.
*Note to our listeners
Hi listeners, Chris and Bob are hard at work retooling the podcast and website. We will be cutting back releases to once a month to allow us the extra time we need to bring you the new and improved product.

This episode has been reposted. Somehow the file became corrupted or changed on Libsyn’s servers, and very few people were actually able to download it. Since neither Bob nor I had this problem, we were unaware of it until listener Katie mentioned it to us. Those who have already heard this, feel free to ignore it. We hope the rest of you enjoy it. c.w. - 21 April, 2008
This episode, we bring you a quick glimpse of Chris’ Podcamp Boston 2 experience and then kick right into a fun Wheel of Misfortune from Jonny Goldstein that I call the Twinkie Caper, but which he calls Freelance Blues. OK. So, we go with Freelance Blues. Why not.
Special thanks to a bunch of folks whom I ran into and especially who helped me with my Living la Vida Freelance! panel.

Well, Ken’s been gone for about 5 months now… or has he? Sometimes you can do everything right. You prepare. You secure. You protect. And then something bad happens anyway. Join us in our latest water-soluble tale of misery and woe, and stick around for a few letters to boot. Then ask yourself, “is Ken Perkins REALLY gone?”

How bad is it when you miss an interview? What if that interview was 800 miles away and started in 3 hours?
Well folks, you guessed it… it’s time for another Wheel of Misfortune. This time we hear from Chris and he tells us about a slow train, a bus comute and a missed plane. Poor Chris can’t catch a break, but he can catch a cold.

Ep 2-2 - Worst Episode Ever! - Wheel of Misfortune & Mailbag -:- AnswersForFreelancers@gmail.com [45:31m]:

Welcome to the second episode of the new year and the second season. We’ve got a special Wheel this week from a favorite guest. Listen to find out who. After that, we have a brand new mailbag. We’re glad you are all taking the time to write in and share your ideas and ask questions. It helps keep us focused on sticking to the topics that you want to discuss.
However, there were a whole lotta problems all the way around with this episode.
First, we did the Mail Bag during the weekend of the big internet changeover in our town. Apparently, Comcast was taking over from Adelphia. So, we kept losing connectivity, and by the end of our 35 minutes of audio, we had spent about an hour and a half trying to record while dealing with dropped calls. Frustration reigned supreme at the end of that call.
Second, apparently Bob’s machine sometimes switches over into “super static” mode. So, even once we were finished, when I got the final audio, it was noisy.
Third, Bob is smack in the middle of some of his worst deadlines this year, so we couldn’t re-record. The decision: Do we miss an episode and re-record it in a week or two? Do I record it myself, all over (I can hear you now, “No, Please No!”) Or do I clean it up the best and I can and put it out as is? Right. Put it out! Here it is. Enjoy!

As we think of ways to bring you more relevant information, one of our thoughts was to break up the shows into ‘Themes’. This show is the first of the ArtGeeks; shows and posts dedicated to the tech-ier side of being an artist in today’s modern world of computers and the internet. You’ll also notice that its a category listed on the left side of our blog. By clicking on the “Art Geek” link, you’ll be shown a list of posts and shows that have tech tips, software and hardware review, and stories about Art Tech in general.

In this installment of the Wheel of Misfortune, we go inside a job interview with Bob, and boy, what an interview it was(n’t). Lessons learned? Don’t be too cocky, look over your potential client’s business before you go in to meet with them, and think twice before taking life-drawings on an interview.
